It’s the New Year and with that being said it’s around that time when resolutions start being created about ways in which we are going to improve on and change our lives. However, one aspect that is often forgotten about is our beauty routines. At University, there are two very different paths that women take regarding make-up. Many wear very little, bearing all, having little time to even consider applying make-up; others seemingly apply their whole cosmetics collection and result in having a very unnatural looking appearance.
Ourselves and our peers seem to neglect our beauty routine with essay deadlines, lectures and seminars at the forefront of our lifestyles, but beauty should still be of high importance. Our skin should be cared for and there is an array of easy and clever techniques in order to achieve this. Even if minimalist make-up is your fashion forte there are products available for everyone, the aim being that even with surmounting stress and pressure, you will still be able to achieve the flawless skin and features that only a lucky few natural beauties possess. There are a wealth of multi-tasking products that have been introduced in recent months which cut time out of your morning routine and enable you to look effortlessly gorgeous. Start this year as you wish it to continue, following five simple beauty resolutions to lead to a happier, healthier and far more striking you.
1. Thou shall moisturise and protect my skin:
Garnier’s Miracle Skin Perfector, a daily all in one BB cream, £8.99. This product has been waggling the tongues of many beauty critics and magazines. It works as a moisturiser and foundation as well as helping to keep your skin at bay, minimising breakouts. Providing good, even coverage, the miracle cream is sold in a 50ml bottle and is an item that will last for a long time. Highly recommended for those that want to keep their skin feeling soft and nourished.
2. Thou shall be glowing and radiant:
The ‘pale and interesting’ look has been in vogue for some time now with many ghost faced models adorning high-fashion runways. However for many this is not attainable or is unsuitable for their complexion so instead use L’Oreal’s Sublime Bronze Self Tanning Gel, £13. It provides a subtle amount of tint to give a youthful glow to your face. It is an expensive indulgence which is a dilemma for cash-strapped students but it provides an instant healthy effect enabling your natural beauty to shine through and the colour lasts between four to five days before reapplication. Many students depend on it for banishing pasty skin.
3. Thou shall have a flawless complexion:
Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer, £4.19. For post-party blemishes and dark circles this product erases these issues. A variety of reputable beauty blogs are raving about this product because not only is it available at a bargain price but it’s an all round wonder item with a massive fan base. Apply it to the T-zone of your face and both under and above your eyes to see a marked improvement and healthier-looking skin. The concealer lasts for up to sixteen hours so only minimal-touch ups are required.
4. Thou shan’t be afraid to make a statement:
Lipsticks, many dare not to try them, sticking with the classic moisturising favourites Vaseline and Carmex, but don’t be afraid to go for a bold lip and escape uniformity. Barry M lip paints, £4.49, come in a variety of colours to suit all and have a lovely texture to them with a long lasting application. Their coral lip paint has a warming tone to it which brightens up your complexion and they also have a gorgeous fuchsia pink. The formula can be used as both a lipstick and a cheek tint.
5. Thou shall put myself first:
Most importantly take care of yourself. Although it’s easier said than done, drinking plenty of water and cutting down on the plentiful stodgy, sugary foods and drinks that become routine within student environments, will lead to a clearer complexion and a healthier body and mind. Don’t let an essay on Pope Innocent III/rock formations/any other delightful degree modules get in the way of having time to pamper yourself and your skin.
