Illustrator: Sam Spratt
Posted by Dave Garraway

Twenty-three year old Sam Spratt is a New York based illustrator who studied at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Since then he has been working as an illustrator for various companies, often bringing art to the world of tech-journalism. His painting technique comes from oil-painting in the Baroque style however he has developed this to satisfy a fast paced digital world. He is adaptable with this and can create fine-art portraits, fantasy creatures as well as surrealist pieces. He has managed to develop a massive following on social networks but as well as being accepted by the general public, he caught the eye of companies such as Maxim and MTV and art critics alike. This means that his illustrations have been enjoyed by many and hopefully shall continue to be for years to come. His work always seems to have an underlining message to it; whether it’s about the differences in the way the media treat a person after their death or just an interesting and funny way to represent a quote. He always manages to give his pieces something and it’s this that makes his work memorable and enjoyable; it isn’t that it looks amazing; it’s that it makes you think about something too.
