Sophie’s work carries an ethereal quality that subdues and calms the mind. Her use of print-making with stencils, coloured ink, relief and monoprinting produce a highly complex, but beautiful aesthetic, drawing you into its many layers of colour, tone and shape.
Nature is a clear inspiration for Sophie’s work. Trees, mushrooms, animals and flowers - all elements of the natural world we inhabit. Purples, pinks and reds signify a distinctly feminine feel, the softness and watercolour texture of which, only adds to their appeal for women.
Sophie studied Illustration at The Arts University College of Bournemouth and has since been involved with delivering workshops to attract the next generation of artists. One of these workshops saw Sophie working alongside the brilliant Quentin Blake, the illustrator who helped bring the weird and wacky characters of Roald Dahl’s imagination to life.
