Fetishism of Commodities

Fashion strives from fetishism as much as fetishism strives from fashion; one stimulates the other in an endless cycle of commodification and desire. However, the fetishism involved isn't always as palpable as latex nipple pasties and leather chains. Instead, it becomes a subconscious desire brought forth every time we long for the clothes or the beautiful models they adorn.

From the dark, weathered heights of the old city walls it was freezing. This high above town there was no warmth, no cover, no respite against the chill bite of December. Even Tammy's leathers were no defence against the merciless cold. She couldn't imagine how Jake felt.

For all those miserable bores getting up in arms about how the festive ads are popping up sooner and sooner each year, find a new line. It's always been ridiculously early and it's not going to change by you whinging about it. And nor should it - I love Christmas adverts.

I have a sneaky suspicion that quite a few people I know are hurrying into relationships simply because everyone else is and they're panicking about ending up alone. But I always wonder just how much these are the people they've always dreamt of finding, and how much they've had to compromise on looks or personality for their relationship.
